About Dr. Styrt

As a husband and father, I know how important it is to take care of others. I love being an orthodontist because I get the chance to know my patients personally while also ensuring they receive the best care possible.

Orthodontics truly changes lives for the better, and I am grateful to be part of that process for so many wonderful people. Every day, I contribute to the oral health and overall wellbeing of my patients, and I couldn’t ask for anything more rewarding than that!

What is my background?

Before becoming an orthodontist, I received my bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of California, San Diego. I then attended the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where I earned my dental degree (DMD). I attained my Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health. My orthodontic specialty certificate and Masters in Oral Biology were both earned at the UCLA School of Dentistry.

About Dr. Chawla

Dr Chawla grew up in central California, attending high school in Fresno. He spent his 20s in Los Angeles, graduated college from UCLA and dental school at USC. He met his wife at UCLA and they moved to New York for two years where Dr Chawla received his pediatric dentistry residency training at Einstein Medical Center.

Dr Chawla chose to become a pediatric dentist because he feels healthy teeth and a beautiful smile are critical to children’s self-esteem and overall health. He believes people’s general happiness and social wellbeing is tied closely with their oral health, and enjoys providing the most technically advanced dental care service in a warm, caring environment.

Dr Chawla and his wife love living in San Diego. They both enjoy the arts, the culture, the outdoor activities, the culinary scene and of course the weather.

About Dr. Hayes

Dr. Kristy Hayes is thrilled to join Dr. Styrt and his incredible team! Dr. Hayes completed her dental school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and her post-doctoral specialty in Pediatric Dentistry at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Hayes is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has extensive experience treating patients with special healthcare needs.

Dr. Hayes is committed to providing the highest quality dental care to your child in a fun and positive environment. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Hayes realized her passion for working with children as a dance teacher and summer camp counselor teaching dramatic arts and sailing. Dr. Hayes proudly served service members and military families first as a General Dentist and then as a Pediatric Dentist in the United States Army for nine years before moving to her dream city of San Diego. Dr. Hayes’ favorite thing about being a Pediatric Dentist is helping kids learn the skills they need to have a healthy smile for life.

When she’s not at work, you can find Dr. Hayes spending time with her husband, Jim and her two daughters Charlotte and Violet, going to the beach or exploring San Diego!
